About Campus (UFTA)

The institute has outstanding and sprawling infrastructure with large administrative and academic block, guest houses, student hostels, mess, library, playground, interpretation center etc. The library of UFTA is its big asset with an extensive collection of books. The administrative and teaching staff resides in the campus itself, offering student a robust and sound technical and academic support round the clock. The total area under UFTA campus is 27.84 ha which also includes other office life that of APPCF, Research and Training, APCCF, Working Plan, CCF, Biodiversity Conservation and Research, CF, Research etc. as well as path of Reserved Forest of Tarai Central Forest Division.

Our Location

UFTA is located on Rampur Road, Haldwani, Nainital district, Uttarakhand. It is well connected to Dehradun and Delhi by train as well as bus.

Infrastructural facilities

Academic Block

UFTA has huge academic block with large and spacious class rooms, computer lab, museum and library. The classrooms at UFTA, are fitted with projectors and microphone devices. A Close Circuit Camera is setup is each classroom with the display been wired to the Director's office. This helps in tight vigilance during examinations and class hours. Apart from these, there are rooms for Director, Deputy Directors and other faculty members. Offices of administrative staff are also the part of this block.


UFTA has a very old library with an enormous collection of books of subjects from core forestry to wildlife management to RS-GIS and computer management as well as large number of books on subjects of general interests. It also subscribes to various magazines as well as national and international journals. It also houses a collection of all the publications made by Uttarakhand Forest Department.

Meetings and Conferences

UFTA also maintains a big corporate meeting cum conference hall. The hall has seating capacity for upto 70 people and is equipped with microphone device, projectors and display boards have flexible orientation. It is often used for high level Departmental meetings as well as for meeting with officers from Ministries and Secretariats.


A medium sized auditorium with light and sound facilities is also available with UFTA. It can seat 150 people at a time. It is regularly used for trainings for large audiences, seminars, conferences, convocations, cultural programs and wildlife movie shows.

Sports and Recreation

UFTA circumferences in its campus a huge awe-inspiring playground. Other than that it has Badminton courts with night-lighting facility. The grounds and courts are maintained by the staff of UFTA and regular renovation is carried out. Other than that UFTA has excellent infrastructure for cricket, football, volleyball and other recreational activities. It also has two Table Tennis rooms. Multi-activity rooms are also available in all the hostels with facilities for carem, chess, magazine reading and watching TV.

Guest Accommodation

UFTA has excellent corporate and guest accommodation. UFTA has two separate guest houses, the "Shatabdi Bhawan" and the Hi-Security VVIP/Corporate Guest House. The "Shatabdi Bhawan" is 20-roomed collection of deluxe-suites. Each room is dual-bed equipped with Cooling System and attached Bathroom. The VVIP/Corporate Guest house, is under the Hi-Security Zone of U.F.T.A. It is reserved for high ranked officials and ministry representatives. It has large rooms, with entertainment utilities. The rooms are air-conditioned and equipped with heating system as well.

Mess Facilities

All the hostels have their separate mess. All of them have explicit menu with high hygiene coefficient and excellent quality of food. The mess activities are run on contract basis.


The institute has two boy's hostels and one (under construction) deluxe suite girl's hostel.
1) The New Boy's Hostel - 44 Rooms.
2) The Old Boy's Hostel - 40 Rooms.
3) The Girls Hostel - 20 Rooms.

What's New

Convocation Ceremony for Range Officers Training Course 2011-2012 will be held on 5th Nov 2012 in auditorium of UFTA.

Self Defense Training is being organized for Forest Guard Training Course 2012 Second Session.

UFTA website redesigned with new content and look.
The UFTA library has been customized to fully fledged cyber and security informatica. It contains books of Networking interest to Complex Problem Solving and Expert systems approach.
