Haldwani, Nainital (Uttarakhand)

Dr. Tejaswini Arvind Patil (IFS)
(Director)

“Our first Prime Minister Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru truly said- “Training is expensive. Without training it’s more expensive.”

As a matter of fact training is a tool for increasing manpower productivity. It’s a learning experience in that it seeks a relatively permanent change in an individual that will improve his / her ability to perform to on the job. It involves changing of skills, attitude and knowledge.

UFTA started in 1979 with the simple goal of training forest officers. However, we have come a long way and now the institute is engaged in education, research & development, knowledge promotion & distribution, and wildlife conservation. and training of Forest Range Officer’s, Foresters, Forest Guards, Short term Frontline training courses, Weekly refresher training courses for frontline staff ,Van Panchayat Training, Kishaan Training and other miscellaneous training is being conducted.

The objective is not just to create a platform for in-service training of forest officers through the forest academy anymore but also to generate the skilled manpower required for the management of forest resources in the state.
