Since 1978 to 1990, the Foresters induction training courses were conducted in this institute along with one year FRO induction training courses. In the year 1991, duration of FRO induction training courses was increased from one year to two years, and consequently Foresters induction training courses were shifted from Forestry Training Institute, Haldwani to Forestry Training Institute, Kanpur.
Later on, this Academy conducted a number of refresher courses of duration 2 to 3 months for Foresters.
Presently, the direct recruitment of Foresters has been stopped by State Govt since 2014-15; all the vacant posts of Foresters are being filled up by the promotion of Forest Guards. So three months training course for forester is being conducted as per guidance issued by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Uttarakhand.
